painting over the cracks---or not....

So as I was giving our backdoor a new coat of paint it reminded me of how some Christians are. You see, our dog has scratched off quite a bit of the paint and it looked absolutely terrible.  Well, to me it looked terrible and thought it was time to cover up those scratch marks that he had left.  He likes to come inside when it is storming and rightly so because I do not like to be outside when it is lightning either.  However, due to the excitement of the storm, the scratch marks were left there as a reminder of when he wanted to com inside.nd
Eventually we moved him away from the door because I grow my own herbs.  Fred was knocking them over and knocking the bricks over as well.  It became irritating so we moved him.  He still wants near the door to make more scratches but I will not let him.  He will just keep scratching off the new coat of paint.  That is the thought for this blog post.  Do we really remove our sins completely or do we just add a new coat of paint to try and cover up the scuff marks.
It is totally a rhetorical question and to be answered silently, but it must be take thought of and seriously.  There is nothing more ugly than putting on a new coat of paint with out completely scratching off the old scars.  Those are guidelines that every painter must follow.  Painters also use a tape to help them stay in line.  It is kind of like coloring, you should stay in the lines or the picture will not look as pretty.
Of course, family and friends will tell us we did well, but the truth is in the coat of paint.  It is very important that we examine ourselves inside and outside.  We must not try to hide any sin because it will eventually show through and we will be embarrassed, much like our finished craft project.  If we do not properly sand, the old scratches will show through no matter how much paint we apply.  It is embarassing to have painted all day long and still have rough spots staring at us.  After all we did take on the project to make it look better so we must follow all the steps accordingly.
God knows when we are sincere or not.  He just wants us to be responsible and take time to be holy as we should want to do anyway. We want to look our best, right?  So that means we must take care of ourselves spiritually and physically or the rough spots, called sin, will eventually make their way to the surface.  Whatever is in our hearts will sooner or later take and adventure out of our mouths.  So we" need to be careful what our eyes see and our ears hear.  That way we can be ready to respond in the correct way.    #22q#beblessed

Terrific Tuesday

2 Peter 1King James Version (KJV) 1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: 2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, 3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall n...

Thoughtful Thursday

If God Be For Us 31 What then shall we say to this? If God is for us, who is against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, will he not also give us all things with him? 33 Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies; 34 who is to condemn? Is it Christ Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us?[e] 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, “For thy sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from...
