I know it is no excuse, but I have been having some esophageal spasms in my neck and shoulder since Dec. 31st, just now getting back to normal. I love life and enjoy each day as much as possible. I am going to try to write something each week. I love writing and I love to try to inspire someone else with words. I want to be an inspiration every day that I walk and breathe. I want to make a point to be the "Good Samaritan," and try to help make a difference. If there is one thing I despise it is when someone is turned away from a job because of a disability, or when someone is turned away because of their, "social status," in life. That should not be and we (and I mean myself as well) as Christians need to be more considerate of the needs of others, no matter what status in life they achieve.
I like to be myself in public, but when it comes to treating others in Christian manner, I try my very best not to discriminate. It is hard to keep from glancing, or maybe even staring at someone in a wheelchair, or someone who has a broken ligament. From experience, it can be very hurtful. That person did not choose to be disabled, they did not choose that walk of life, I am sure. I am writing this post to help us become more aware of others needs and feelings.
If there is a child who is quadriplegic and you are at a restaurant, his family would not appreciate the extra attention. If you have a child with ADD and he is acting crazy, do not stare! It is embarrassing enough without the extra help. Instead, just try to go on eating, like you would normally. God loves all His Children equally and that includes, you, too!
So in closing I want to recap on what I am saying here. It is easy to get caught with the "deer in the headlight," stare when something is a little different, but try your best not to make comments and instead share a smile, or a warm welcome. You never know how much that a simple word or hug could help someone. I want to leave you with a Scripture today as well.
"But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors."
James 2:5 (KJV)
